This abstract reclining female torso is a piece I began work on in a Seravezza, Italy studio in 2018, and finished in my own studio in Canada. The stone is a variety of Carrara marble called calacatta oro and has a soft, warm tone. I’ve taken a queue from Henry Moore, making the figure in two pieces and these can be moved freely to any desired distance of separation on the deep green granite base.
During Michelle’s and my year abroad in Europe in 2018-19, I found my muse again and a fresh outlook on life and my career. Relearning to allow myself to trust the Universe’s flow, I’m approaching the future with a “dot dot dot.” Oddly, three tiny golden specks appeared on the front right hip of this sculpture, and that inspired the title. Eerily prophetic?
