Binkley Commissioned to Carve Baseball Glove
I have been commissioned to carve a baseball glove for the owner of the development company that is building my new studio.
The owner also has a concrete company and the granite boulder for the project came from the quarry for the concrete aggregate. It is a brown coloured gabro, so when polished it will closely resemble a real baseball glove. The type of glove is called a “trapper” and is primarily used by first basemen. I am including a softball that appears to be just landing in the pocket of the glove. The patron plays softball, not hardball, hence the larger sphere in the mitt.
When finished, the slightly larger than life-size glove will stand on a circular black granite base with a pin for stability.
