Binkley Commissioned to Make FANS 2017 Awards

I was commissioned create the FANS Recognition Awards for 2017. FANS is an organization that honours distinguished artists from the North Shore of Vancouver, Canada each year who have achieved national and/or international status. FANS also awards grants to emerging artists to assist in the development of their careers.

This year, the FANS Honourees were Marcus Mosely and Susanna Blunt. I carved their awards as abstract birds forms from rainforest marble which was quarried on the mountains on the west coast of Vancouver Island, near Tofino, BC, Canada. They are mounted on black granite bases with their name s laser etched at the front, and can be removed to be enjoyed alone as a fine art piece, or on their base as an award.

There were six emerging artists who received grants this year. They are Katrina Becker-Gredge, C. E. Gatcalian, Alicia Hansen, Christine Hood, Anosh Irani and Laura Smith.

The Awards event, A Tribute to the Arts was once again held at the Griffin Art Projects facility in North Vancouver, BC, Canada.
