Binkley will Mentor at NWSSA Suttle Lake Syposium

SuttleLakeField

I have been invited to the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association Suttle Lake Symposium in Oregon this summer to be a mentor on the field for a few days. I will also give a presentation on my discoveries in the 3D virtual world of ZBrush. This year’s Symposium will run Aug. 20 – 27, 2017.

Two years ago, Marie Sivak gave a great presentation on a freeware 3D drawing program and the application of it to fine art sculpture. I hope to build on that this year with ZBrush, which is a much more powerful drawing program. I plan to coordinate  with my friend and Association president, Carl Nelson who will be bringing a small CNC carving unit to see if it will cut on eof my ZBrush creations.

Michelle will join me this trip, and of note is that Suttle Lake will be directly in the path of the total solar eclipse which will occur on Monday, August 21, 2017. It looks like the surrounding area will be quite busy with visitors, so it will be interesting to see how much carving gets done on the Monday!
