Changsha Sculpture Festival 2014 Seen from Space

The organizers of the Changsha International Sculpture Festival 2014 have contacted each of us participating artists to inform us that they will soon be installing our finished sculptures in their permanent locations in the Yanghu Wetland Park.

I went to Google Earth to cross reference the location for my sculpture and was pleasantly surprised to see that Google had updated its photographs over the city of Changsha, China on September 28, 2014. The Sculpture Festival is in the photographs! I took a screen shot of the stone carving work field, above, showing some of the surrounding areas of Yanghu Wetland Park. You can see the work field in the centre of the photo as a grassy square with white tents around the perimeter.

Below is a closer look. You can see my work station at the top centre of the photo. My work tent is set back, or up from my sculpture, “Look to the Horizon” as it was too short to cover my work. You can see my sculpture as a light grey dot and the dark grey shadow the sculpture is casting just above it. My Hungarian friend, Beata Rostas’ tent is to the right, and Lei Yixin’s white marble, multi-piece sculpture is to the left of me.

I thought is a bit of whimsy that yet another of my public art pieces can now be seen from space!
