Chinese Explanation of Binkley Changsha Sculpture
I borrowed an idea from fellow Changsha International Sculpture Arts Festival participant, Nicolas Bertoux of France.
I found a large scrap of white marble, and had my interpreters, Cherry Huang and Sherry Lee translate my English explanation into Chinese with a blue pen.
This is for the benefit of the hundreds of Yanghu Wetland Park visitors whom I cannot speak to, as I am working on my sculpture and my daily interpreter cannot possibly be expected to explain to each one either.
The sign has been a great asset, as both the Organizing Committee and the public have complimented me on my sculpture concept. I also notice people stopping, reading and the nodding their heads in the corner of my eye as I work.
