I’ve taken one of my Haiku vector drawings and translated it into a small scale sculpture. I was inspired by a photograph of a ballet dancer in this pose, called croisé derrière avec arc, or crossed behind with arch. I was taken by the gentle gracefulness of the figure’s arm and head positions and thought a nude in this pose would make an appealing sculpture.
I sculpted this piece in virtual space, using ZBrush and then had it 3D printed in steel with a blackened bronze patina. I carved the black granite base and permanently attached the figure to it.
I will do a limited edition of 10 of these sculptures, and this is the first one.
