FANS Awards 2013

It is time again for the Fund for the Arts on the North Shore (FANS)  awards gala. The FANS Society has again commissioned me to create the recognition awards, this year for two recipients, pictured above.

At the special reception, FANS acknowledges the wealth of artistic talent living on Vancouver’s North Shore by honouring local artists who have achieved national and international recognition in their field. Two acclaimed North Shore artists will receive the FANS 2013 Distinguished Artist Award; painter Bobbie Burgers, and poet and visual artist Pierre Coupey. In addition, musician Asha Diaz and visual artist, Iris Low will receive the Don S. Williams B Grant in recognition of their artistic contributions and demonstrated maturity of talent.

Over the years, the FANS Society has asked me to create various awards for the event, which started in 1995. Last year, Douglas Coupland was honoured with one of my abstract bird sculptures and Anna Wyman the year before.

The event is being held this Friday evening, November 8, 2013 at the Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art in North Vancouver, starting at 7:00pm. Tickets are available from the Arts Office.
