Michael Binkley on Global TV

I’m grateful for the continued support of Global News TV. This is a short human interest piece by Jay Durant, who hosts “This is BC”. This segment ran for a few days in early February 2025 as part of Global News hour. Click the image below to see this 2 minute clip.

A high school classmate, Patrick Bell follows me on social media and in November 2024, he called to see if I’d like to be interviewed by Jay for Global. He and Jay arranged to come the studio gallery for a recording session in December. The visit lasted about 1.5 hours and I was leery on how Jay was going to reduce the visit to 2 minutes!

However, Jay was inthralled with my story as an artist and concentrated on how I got started. He did a wonderful job getting the story succinct and correct. Global has followed my career and I recall fondly Tamara Taggart coming to our East 1st Street, North Vancouver gallery and sculpture garden in 2001 to cover our successful “Garden Sculpture Show” exhibitions. In 2004, when Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 was christened by Queen Elizabeth II, Catherine Urquhart reported on my three major marble sculpture sea shells that are part of the ship’s permanent multi-million dollar international art collection.
