NWSSA Annual Camp Brotherhood Symposium, WA, USA

The Northwest Stone Sculptors Association produces an annual sculpture symposium at Camp Brotherhood near Mt. Vernon, WA, USA. This year’s event has just finished, and while I was not able to attend, the above is a lovely video produced by Anne Lancaster. Not only does Anne reveal the stunning talents of the stone sculptors who attended, but she has a wonderful photographic eye that seeks out the subtle details of the symposium.

I am a member of the NWSSA, which is a very inclusive group of people who are passionate about the art of carving stone – from amateur to professional. If you are someone who has always been curious about learning how to carve stone, or wish to learn more about techniques, I highly recommend checking out the NWSSA.

Their annual symposiums (there are several each summer in various locations in western USA) are welcoming, inclusive events where anyone who is interested in stone sculpture can learn about the art. You can share ideas and insecurities and get information on tools and techniques for both creating and selling stone sculpture. Competition and egos are checked at the door before the event begins.
