Remembrance Day 2014 at Roche Point
Michelle and I have freshly returned from our adventure in Changsha, China.
On November 11, I attended the Remembrance Day services hosted by the Burrard Yacht Club held at Roche Point in Cates Park / Whey-ah-Wichen. This is where Canada’s first War Memorial executed in nephrite jade resides, designed and carved by moi.
The sky was a clear blue, the wind whipped cold and the bright sun much lower to the south overhead, making the light on “Remembrance in Jade” much different at 11am than at its unveiling. About 3,000 people came to pay tribute to those brave service men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice in past conflicts to secure our freedom here in Canada.
The service was beautiful, matching the day.
