Sculptural Lady’s Handbags
These designs caught my eye, from Useful DIY. Flat, heavy felt cut in curves with zippered edges become soft sculptural handbags. The pictured ones above are only a few of the designs they featured.
The grey felt used here makes the bags look like granite, and the mirrored curve design makes the resulting shapes appear to be water-worn river stones. One uses the zippers to not only open and close the bags, but also serves as the stitched edges to complete them.
When open and flat, the bags look like pieces of an Alex Calder mobile, yet when zipped up, they look like one of my abstract stone sculptures. Certainly an eye-catcher, and they look ergonomically comfortable and practical. Plus, they can be stored easily!
