Sculpture Carving Progress for Singapore Hotel
Now that I have completed the 12 identical sculptures for the hotel in Singapore, I’m starting the 13th and 14th sculptures. Once again, these are inspired from pieces that I’ve already created. Above left is a variation on “Sand Dance” and on the right, a piece fashioned after “Egg Shell”. These two are carved from cipollino marble, and I purchased a new block of this stone for these sculptures. The marble block arrived at my studio from Carrara, Italy:
I’ve split the large block into pieces that are the right height for the individual sculptures, and here, I’m bucking up those into even smaller pieces, to preserve as much of this expensive stone as I can for other projects:
Before I move on to sanding and polishing these sculptures, I’m awaiting approval from the hotel first.
