Start with Art 2015
Once again, I am donating an original marble sculpture to the Seymour Art Gallery’s annual “Start with Art” exhibition. This event is specifically aimed at a younger audience, wherein Vancouver artists are invited to exhibit an artwork which are all shown at “kids eye-view.” This means that all two and three dimensional work is displayed at a low vantage point, so children can appreciate the exhibit. Not only that, but the works for sale can only be purchased by patrons 16 years of age and younger. All art works are $150.00 or less.
The purpose is to offer a child friendly art exhibition and to encourage a younger audience to begin their own art collection.
“Start with Art, 2015” will run from April 15 – May 9, 2015, with an opening reception on Sunday, April 19 from 2 – 4pm. The Seymour Art Gallery is open 7 days a week from 10am – 5pm.
I have donated a small abstract bird sculpture carved from rainforest marble, and I’ve used the striations of the stone to create a ring around the bird’s neck.
