Start with Art is Back!

The Seymour Art Gallery, a community gallery in North Vancouver, BC, Canada hosts an annual exhibition called Start With Art, which is geared especially for children.

Established artists exhibit small scale artwork and share childhood memories about art making, inspiration and advice for young artists. that are displayed at a lower vantage point for younger eyes. Art is all priced $150.00 CDN or under and no one over the age of 16 is allowed to buy it. This wonderful exhibition educates children about the viewer experience in a gallery and introduces them to collecting art and to wanting to have fine art in their lives at home.

This year, Start with Art will open April 9, 2013 and run until May 4, 2013. Gallery hours are 10am to 5pm, seven days a week.

I have supported the event by donating outright a small stone snow dove, and each year a happy youngster has been able to start their art collection with a sculpture. Here is a post on one such young collector from the 2012 exhibition.
