Stubborn Sandcastle

When Michelle and I take a beach vacation, I usually make sand castles or sand sculptures at least once a day. However, on our March 2014 vacation to Maui, HI, USA, I made but one tiny castle in the sand.

It was our last day of the vacation, and as we had to vacate our room in the morning, but our flight home was not until the evening, we decided to spend it at a beach.

We settled on Ma Poina ‘Oe la’u Memorial Park beach and although it had been raining most of the morning, the sun came out in the afternoon. It was windy and there was a slight chop on the water, which made for alternating large and small waves that came onto the beach.

I made a tiny, two towered drip sand castle/sculpture that seemed to defy destruction with multiple waves, until….
